AfDB Embraces AI to Drive Africa’s Long-Term Development Plan

The African Development Bank (AfDB) is pushing Artificial Intelligence as a key driver for Africa’s Agenda 2063, backing training programs that equip policymakers with tools like ChatGPT and Google AI Studio. At a five-day workshop in Lusaka, officials from across the continent learned how AI can turn complex development data into actionable insights for smarter decisions and resource allocation. The initiative, part of the second ten-year plan (2024–2033), highlights AI’s role in advancing industrialisation, digital transformation, and sustainable livelihoods. By boosting both technical skills and peer learning, the AfDB aims to make AI an indispensable tool for tracking progress, solving bottlenecks, and accelerating Africa’s long term development goals.
