Djibouti Telecom is expanding its DARE1 subsea cable system to boost
cloud, content delivery, and digital services across Africa. Submarine cables
like DARE1 are critical because they carry most of the world’s internet traffic,
providing high-capacity and low-latency connections needed for cloud
platforms and streaming services. The new extension will connect more
countries along Africa’s east coast, creating alternative routes and more
resilient links to global hubs. By 2028, this system will help meet rising
demand from enterprises, carriers, and cloud providers, supporting the
region’s digital economy.
