Kenya’s 5G Growth Signals Shift Toward High-Capacity Digital Networks

Kenya’s transition to next generation connectivity is accelerating, with 5G subscriptions rising by 71.7 percent to reach 1.74 million users, following the addition of over 724,000 new users in the past year. This growth is supported by expanding infrastructure from Safaricom and Airtel Kenya, alongside increased access to compatible devices, driving mobile data usage to 216,849.4 terabytes nearly four times the previous year. Improved network performance has also pushed average mobile speeds to 45 megabits per second (Mbps) by the end of 2025, placing Kenya among Africa’s top-performing markets. As demand for high speed connectivity grows, the surge reflects a broader shift toward data-intensive services and highlights the expanding role of advanced mobile networks in supporting digital platforms and enterprise connectivity.
